- Review of 2007
A Director’s Workshop was held
September 15, 2007. Chair and Co-Chair were Mary J. Renneckar and Heather
Potter. Clinicians were Sue Ellen Page and daughter, Amanda Page Smith.
Sixty-one people registered, and evaluations were very positive. Total expenses
were $4,529.60. Gross receipts were $3,825.00 which makes a net loss of
$704.60. This does not reflect the income received by our local Charlotte
Chapter from annual dues to national CG..
- Treasurer’s Report
Brenda Goldfaden told us that our
bank is merging with another. A hard copy of the Treasurer’s Report is
attached.
Beginning
Balance: $5,673.08
Ending Balance: $6,218.44
The ending balance reflects the
annual dues portion received from national CG.
- Membership Report
Catherine Harkey reported that we
have 142 members in our chapter with 40 of those residing in Charlotte. North
Carolina now has 4 C.G. Chapters: Triad, Eastern N.C., Charlotte, and the new
Blue Ridge chapter. Many of our former members have transferred to the chapter
that holds meetings in the Ashville area.
- Website Report www.cgcharlotte.org
Catherine Harkey began and
continues to maintain our website with the help of her grown son. That being
said, there is a need for increased capabilities, and we were all asked to be on
the lookout for someone who can help in this area. All event chairs were
reminded to give her information and brochures so that both information and
registration can be facilitated by our site. Also, our web address needs to be
on all communication and brochures.
- Event Reports 2008
- CG Music Camp with Co-Chairs, Anne Hunter Eidson &
Catherine Harkey.
“Celebrating God’s Musical
Tapestry” will be for rising 3rd – 6th graders. Myers
Park Presbyterian Church will host this event, August 11-15, from 9:00 AM – 3:00
PM. The cost will be $125.00 per child, including lunch and snacks. Each day
will feature the music, culture and food of different country. Everyone’s help
is needed to make this a success. While we all don’t need to be at camp all
day, every day, we were asked to help for 2 hours each day. A sign up sheet was
passed around.
- Fall Directors Workshop with Co-Chairs, Carey
Cannon & Brenda Goldfaden. Clinicians are Anton Armstrong and Eric
Nelson. The dates are September 19-20, and Providence Baptist Church
will be the host. The current thinking is that Eric Nelson will speak
to the Adult Choir and Anton Armstrong will speak to the needs of Middle
and High School Choirs. Carey urged us to think and share any ideas
regarding format and content. With the price tag of those two
clinicians, publicity is critical.
- Event Reports 2009
There was no news to report. The
following events were discussed.
- CG Music Camp
Given our rotation schedule, we
are ready to focus on children and/or handbells. C. Michael Hawn and Global
Music were suggested. We are still looking for two members to chair this event.
- Fall Workshop
We are trying to hold the 3rd
weekend of September as our event weekend. A Youth Choir focus was suggested.
Event Chairs are also needed. Carey told us about Youth Cue,
www.youthcue.org, of which Randy Richards is the head. He will be in
Charlotte March 7,8,9 at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church.
