Charlotte Chapter Choristers Guild Annual Meeting

Host Church: Myers Park Presbyterian Church, Charlotte.  Catherine Harkey, Host
11:30-1:30; included a lunch provided by the church for $7.00 per person and a time of fellowship.

The meeting was called to order at 12:00 by President, Ed Tompkins.  Members present:  Catherine Harkey, Brennan Szafron, Brenda Goldfaden, Becky Puster, Jane Love, Lizanne Miskelly, Carey Cannon, Rob Frazier, Scott Farrell, Brian Childers, Will Young, and Ed Tompkins.

1.     Review of 2009
        A Director's Workshop was held September 18/19, 2009.  co-chairs were Anne Hunter Eidson and Janice Barnett.  Clinicians were C. Michael Hawn on Global Music and Konnie Saliba on Orff techniques.  Host church was Providence Baptist in Charlotte.  Total expenses were $5,258.25.  Registration receipts were $4,176.00 which makes a net loss of $1,082.25.  Many factors contributed to lower attendance this year, including the general poor economy and the NC ACDA workshop being held in Greensboro on the same weekend.

2.     Treasurer's Report:  Brenda Goldfaden
        Beginning Balance:        $9,309.67        (January 2009)
        Ending Balance:             $9,460.56        (December 2009)

3.     Membership Report
        Catherine Harkey reported that we have 136 members in our chapter and 2 student members.  National Office sent us a check in August for $1,320, reflecting the rebate returned to our treasury from member's dues.

4.     Website Report     www.cgcharlotte.org
        Catherine Harkey began and continues to maintain our website with the help of her son, Chris.  If one of our chapter members has website expertise and would like to volunteer to work with Catherine, it would be greatly appreciated!

8.     Brainstorming future events
             Fall Director's Workshop 2011:
             Move date to September 9/10, 2011 to avoid conflict with NC ACDA
             Ideas of topics:        Preschool and Early Elementary
                                              Upper Elementary and Middle School
             Ideas of clinicians:    Cynthia Nott
                                              Sandy Barber
                                              Phillip Schultz
             Co-chairs:                 Scott Farrell and NEEDED - one volunteer

9.     Other business:
        a.   NEEDED - an event, perhaps social, to allow school teachers to attend
        b.   NEEDED - a chapter member to volunteer to review/audit the financial
              records - this would be a 45-60 minute job once a year.
        c.   NEEDED - event co-chair for 2011, someone with experience at events.
        d.   NEEDED - task team to review and update local chapter job descriptions

10.   The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 by Ed Tompkins.
